What makes a fabric an organic fabric?
Generally speaking, the less a fabric negatively impacts the environment the more it is considered "organic".
This impact on the environment can occur when the plant fibers for the organic fabric are grown or obtained.
A more organic fabric would have less environmentally dangerous pesticides used to protect the plants from which the organic fabric is made.
Also if the raw materials for the fabric are made from recycled materials it would be more likely to be considered an organic fabric.
Organic fabrics would use less environmentally harmful dyes to color the fabric.
More organic fabric would be readily biodegradable.
Some organic fabric fibers are grown from the soil and some organic fabric fibers are shorn from animals.
Less organic fabric fibers are man-made in factories using more fossil fuels and dangerous chemicals producing harmful chemical biproducts.
Some groups prefer fabrics made without harming animals and condider those fabrics more organic.
Some consider silk fabrics produced from a cocoon without killing the worm that produced the silk fiber more organic.
